You have a case file of scans, mailbox exports and recordings, and a hearing date. Legalnaut reads the whole file and gives you five working documents, each fact pinned to the document and page it came from.

A new matter arrives as a ZIP. Inside sit scanned bundles, a PST export of somebody's mailbox, WhatsApp screenshots and two voice memos. Before you can argue anything, you have to answer three questions: what happened, who said what, and what can you prove.

Answering them by hand takes weeks. Pasting the file into a chat assistant takes minutes and returns answers you cannot cite. We built [Legalnaut](https://legalnaut.com/?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch) for the space between those two options. It is a case intelligence workspace for litigation teams, and every fact it produces is anchored to the document and page it came from.

Here are the five things it builds from one case file.

1. A chronology you can cite
----------------------------

Legalnaut runs OCR on every scanned page, transcribes recordings, and skips files already in the case by their fingerprint. Then it puts dated events from every document on one timeline. Each entry keeps the document, the page and the sentence it came from, so one click opens the source with the passage highlighted.

If you want to see the method on a real-sized file, the Legalnaut team wrote it up: [how to build a case chronology from 900 emails](https://legalnaut.com/blog/build-a-case-chronology-from-900-emails?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch).

2. Contradictions shown as two quotations
-----------------------------------------

Legalnaut splits statements into individual claims and checks each one against the rest of the file. A contradiction appears as two quotations side by side, each with its page. The software suggests, and a lawyer confirms. Nothing becomes a finding until a person accepts it.

3. A proof chart with the gaps marked
-------------------------------------

A [proof chart](https://legalnaut.com/glossary/proof-chart?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch) sets each issue in the claim beside the exhibits that support it. The empty rows matter most, because they show you which element still has no evidence while there is time to find some. Bundles, chronologies and statements of facts export with fixed exhibit numbers.

4. Witness dossiers and hearing preparation
-------------------------------------------

For every person in the file, Legalnaut collects what they said, where they said it, and which documents contradict it. From there it prepares examination outlines and computes deadlines from the provision and the date they run from.

5. Drafts that pass a citation check
------------------------------------

Legalnaut drafts pleadings, evidentiary motions and client updates from the material in the file. Before you read a draft, a [cite-check](https://legalnaut.com/glossary/cite-check?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch) confirms the cited document exists, you are allowed to see it, the page is there and the quoted words appear in it. Anything a model wrote stays labelled as a draft. The AI assistant follows the same rule: it searches and reads the records first, and every sentence of its answer names a document and page.

Why not a general chat assistant
--------------------------------

A general assistant answers from whatever fits in its context window and cites nothing you can open. Legalnaut keeps the whole file indexed, works per matter, and checks every citation against the record. The Legalnaut site has a full comparison: [Legalnaut vs uploading your case file to ChatGPT](https://legalnaut.com/compare/general-ai-assistants?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch).

Where your case file lives
--------------------------

Case files are stored on Hetzner servers in Falkenstein, Germany, in a data centre certified to ISO/IEC 27001. A2Z Web operates Legalnaut and holds SOC 2 Type II certification. Document analysis runs at OpenAI and Anthropic under terms that prohibit training on customer content. Every file gets a sha256 fingerprint on arrival, and consequential actions land in an audit log.

Who uses it, and what it costs
------------------------------

Legalnaut has pages for each practice area it serves: [commercial litigation](https://legalnaut.com/for/commercial-litigation?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch), [criminal defence](https://legalnaut.com/for/criminal-defence?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch), [in-house legal](https://legalnaut.com/for/in-house-legal?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch), [solo practice](https://legalnaut.com/for/solo-practice?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch) and [cross-border disputes](https://legalnaut.com/for/cross-border-disputes?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch). The interface runs in nine languages, and quotations stay in their original language.

You pay by pages analysed, not by seat, so every plan has unlimited users. Plans start at $79 a month for 2,500 pages. The 14-day trial includes 1,000 pages and needs no card.

The fastest way to judge it is the [live demo case](https://legalnaut.com/demo?utm_source=a2zweb&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=legalnaut_launch): one click, no sign-up, a full matter already analysed. Then run one of your own files through the trial and check the cites yourself.
